This is the only time that Strawberry Shortcake had blue eyes as well, and characters had big design changes in fashion and hairstyle. They hung out at a dance studio/theatre/kid friendly club called 'Berry Merry'. Along with singing and playing instruments too, and rarely being seen at beaches and stores. All we know is that the girls basically did one thing, dancing. The art was shown on cards as a way to promote and advertise the series but failed to gain popularity like the previous generation once did. Surprisingly, official artwork of this series exists as shown on the right and was often used in the packaging of the dolls, being advertised as a sort of play-scene. No animated specials were made, and the franchise was on hiatus for twelve years. However, this generation only lasted for one year. Instead of creating new characters or lines, THQ had re-produced the six characters as dolls and some of the playsets from the previous generation. Angel Cake's skunk was seen but not Angel Cake herself. ![]() Cherry Cuddler and Apple Dumplin' were seen in official artwork. ![]() In 1991, the company THQ had released a new generation which only included the characters Strawberry Shortcake, Orange Blossom, Blueberry Muffin, Lemon Meringue, Raspberry Torte, and Lime Chiffon. ![]()
